A Day at the Farm

100,000 visitors have been to Sweetwater Valley Farm and experienced a working dairy farm specializing in fine homestead cheddar cheese. Bring your family for a farm tour and see how cattle are cared for to ensure safe, high-quality milk products; visit “The Udder Story” educational dairy exhibit; learn where and how the cheese is made, and sample the various varieties at the farm store. For farm tour info call: 877-862-4332.

After visiting the farm, stop for lunch in historic downtown Loudon. Mark’s Downtown Diner is a family favorite and is strategically positioned – because you will want to head next door for homemade ice cream at the Tic-Toc Ice Cream Parlor!

Quae Tae Me Sheep Farm is an off-the-beaten-path and out-of-the-ordinary destination sure to refresh your spirit and enlighten your mind. Experience an authentic working sheep farm where Border Collies respond to old-world commands, such as quae tae me, which is Gaelic for “Come to me.” Please call the farm in advance at 423-435-3951.

Maple Lane Farms hosts several festivals each year, including the Maple Lane Farms Corn Maze from mid-September through the end of October. Plan your trip around one of their festivals and turn your “day on the farm” into a fun-filled weekend. For more information, visit www.maplelanefarms.com or call 865-856-3517.
