The many beautiful lakes and rivers in Loudon County are known for their wide array of spectacular water activities, including fishing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, canoeing and kayaking. But Loudon County, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, has a variety of other recreational opportunities for visitors year-round.
With the Great Smoky Mountains for a background, hiking in Loudon County is second to none. The East Lakeshore Trail provides a recreational and educational hiking trail along a portion of the east shoreline of Tellico Lake. The trail is recognized by the Department of the Interior as a National Recreation Trail. The 31-mile trail system consists of ten segments available for public use year round. Loudon County is also home to several top-rated golf courses, including Tennessee National, designed by Greg Norman, and Tellico Village, which boasts three spectacular courses, Toqua Golf Course, Tanasi Golf Course and The Links at Kahite Golf Course. Other courses include , Rarity Bay, Landmark Golf Club at Avalon and WindRiver Golf Course.
The area is also rich in stick and ball sports as spectators can enjoy the Tennessee Volunteers and other Southeastern Conference teams, as well as Double A baseball with the Tennessee Smokies and minor league hockey with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
Lenoir City and Loudon also boast a variety of parks that feature sports fields, walking trails, disc golf, basketball and tennis courts, volleyball courts, playgrounds, splash pad, pools, and much more.
