  • The museum exhibits and interprets a collection designed to promote the understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of the Cherokee Indians in Eastern Tennessee. In particular it chronicles the life and contributions of Sequoyah, a great chief who perfected a system for reading and writing for the Cherokee nation.

  • The Lost Sea is America’s largest underground lake and a Registered National Landmark. It is open daily for guided tours of the cavern and underground lake. Guides tell of the cavern’s exciting and colorful history and explain the fascinating geological development of the immense cavern. There is also a general store, ice cream parlor, gem mine, café and nature trails.

  • The park provides a glimpse of life during the time of the French and Indian War (1754-1763). It encompasses 1,200 acres and is one of the earliest British fortifications on the Western frontier, built in 1756. The fort was reconstructed during the Great Depression and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. Fort Loudoun’s interpretive center displays artifacts that were excavated prior to the Fort’s reconstruction from the French and Indian War. Along with living history and monthly interpretive programs, park activities include hiking, birding, fishing and paddling.
